Samsung announced the launch of blood pressure and electrocardiogram (ECG) tracking features for Galaxy Watch6 series for the first time in India through an OTA (over-the-air) roll out. With the Samsung Health Monitor BP and ECG tracking on Galaxy Watch 6 series, users can now conveniently monitor their health, support their fitness regimes and enable regular health checkups.
A convenient personal health and fitness monitoring device that complements regular medical checkups, the BP and ECG tracking features via Samsung Health Monitor App have received regulatory clearances and certifications from India’s Central Drugs Standard Control Organization.
Samsung Galaxy Watch6 users can download the Samsung Health Monitor App, available on Galaxy Store, and follow simple instructions to measure their BP and ECG. Both features will also be made available on Galaxy Watch4 and Watch5 series.
Using the Galaxy Watch to measure your blood pressure
Blood pressure test measures the pressure in the arteries as the heart pumps and is done as a part of a routine health check-up. Beyond going for your usual check-ups, you can now use personal monitoring tools to check your blood pressure at home. The Galaxy Watch is built with a Photoplethysmogram (PPG) sensor inside which can record systolic and diastolic pressure, as well as pulse rate, and record it in the Samsung Health Monitor app.
How to use:
Download the Samsung Health Monitor App on your Galaxy Watch and Galaxy smartphone
Calibrate your Galaxy Watch based on the instructions on the Samsung Health Monitor app
Wear your Galaxy Watch on the same wrist as during the calibration and make sure the strap is snug, then measure your blood pressure.
Review your blood pressure measurements
Take an ECG reading with your Galaxy Watch
ECG is a simple test to check the heart’s rhythm and electrical activity to detect irregular rhythms. Sensors are placed on the skin to detect the electrical signals produced by your heart each time it beats and the information is recorded on a graph. With the new update you can now use the Samsung Health Monitor ECG app to create, record, save, and share ECG data.
How to use:
Pair your Galaxy Watch with the Galaxy smartphone
Wear the Galaxy Watch snugly on your wrist
Open the Samsung Health Monitor app on your Galaxy Watch
To take an ECG reading, rest your fingertip of the opposite hand lightly on the Galaxy Watch’s top button for 30 seconds
The ECG data is synced to the paired Galaxy smartphone where a PDF report is created
