Uber Black Returns to India After a Decade, Offering Luxury Rides
Uber is reviving its premium service, Uber Black, in India after a 10-year break. Expected to launch in the coming weeks, the high-end service will feature a new sustainability-focused model with fares set to be 30-40% higher than regular rides, according to reports.
The car rental service began its operations in India in 2013 with the Uber Black segment, providing customers with luxury car rentals, including BMW, Mercedes, and Audi. The US-based ride-hailing platform is also in talks with its India partners to upgrade its scale, reported Economic Times.
Currently, the demand for premium products is high in the country, and Uber's development can prove fruitful to the company. Interestingly, Dara Khosrowashahi, CEO of Uber said in a conversation in Bangalore that their focal point is low-cost services including three-wheelers and two-wheelers in India. it also reported that the firm is seeking a partnership with the government-supported ONDC (Online Network for Digital Commerce).
