Celebrating the historic launch of 5G services in India, the inaugural ceremony of Asia's largest technology exhibition India Mobile Congress (IMC 2022) culminated with much fanfare at Pragati Maidan in Delhi. The 6th edition of IMC 2022 will witness thought-provoking sessions, discussions, debates and seminars with the participation of 24,000 visitors, 239 exhibitors and 100 startups from 1 to 4 October 2022.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by the presence of dignitaries including Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of Communication, Electronics and Information Technology, Shri Devusinh Chauhan, Minister of State for Communications, Shri Mukesh Ambani, CMD, Reliance Industries, Shri Sunil Bharti Mittal, CEO, Bharti Enterprises, Kumar Mangalam Birla, Chairperson, Aditya Birla Group and others.
After the inauguration event, IMC 2022 hosted engaging sessions with industry leaders, academicians, entrepreneurs and others, who discussed challenges, efforts and opportunities in the 5G arena which can contribute in creating a robust technology ecosystem in India. The event witnessed sessions including 'New Digital Universe', 'Decoding the potential of Digital Bharat', 'Skilling India for new 5G paradigm, Towards 5G and Advanced 6G- an international conference, and others.
IMC 2022 is being jointly organized by the Department of Telecommunications and Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI). The endeavors of IMC perfectly fall in line with the vision of Digital India and promoting Made-in-India technology to address the challenges in areas of commerce, healthcare, education, communication and financial inclusion. It seeks to highlight how 5G technology can improve quality and access to healthcare facilities by ensuring medical aid in remote areas, tele-health, specialized healthcare at primary care centers and connecting them to specialty hospitals.
The Government of India has been fostering a high-tech culture across industries in India that will open the door for the nation's future growth. The rural economy will get a boost as the demand for 5G handset, and new supplementary gadgets will rise. Armed with the new technology, the telecom sector will be able to supplement the delivery of government schemes in nook and corner of the country, and across geographies on an affordable cost, including north-east of India. Schemes like PM GatiShakti will get a boost due to the new technology.
Moreover, in education, 5G is important for connecting schools in rural areas, providing remote education, offering AI-ML based deep learning, and digitalization of curriculum. It can empower the agriculture sector and farmers with real time data transfer, monitoring, utility services, automation and drone-based utilities.
The grand edition this year is showcasing products based on technology which are contributing in digital transformation and making communication, connection and commerce seamless. It aims to give first-hand experience of the latest technological advancements and witness the presence of around 24,000 participants, 5,000 CXO-level delegates, 196 speakers, and 239 exhibitors across 75 sessions.
Since its inception, IMC has been actively promoting India's strength and position as a global hub for manufacturing technology products. It is further highlighting the role of startups, small-scale industries in the new digital universe to deliver best in class service, equipment, and applications. PM Modi lauded the efforts of IMC for bringing the digital ecosystem together and providing a great platform for dialogues and endeavors on digitalization, technology, nation building, industrial revolution and taking government services to doorsteps.
