TCL Joins Hands with ESPN to Create the Inspiring ‘Born A Legend’ Series, Featuring Indian Cricketer Kuldeep Yadav

The cricket fever is back with the ICC World Cup just around the corner, and TCL is all set to bring in the cheers. TCL has come together with ESPN, the world's leading creative sports channel, to create 'Born a Legend' series in India and across the globe. India's 'Born a Legend' series will feature the compelling story of Kuldeep Yadav, celebrating his grit and passion ahead of the ICC World Cup, and all the qualities that make him a legend.

TCL felt a direct connect with Kuldeep Yadav, owing to his inspirational journey. Hailing from a humble background from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, Kuldeep didn't have the socio-economic privileges to propel his career. With only hard work by his side, Kuldeep paid attention to his coach and changed from fast-bowler and emerge as one of the rare left-arm Chinaman bowlers in the world. He has, hitherto, enjoyed immense success, being touted as one of the best bowlers in the present times, claiming five wickets in all of the three formats of the game. TCL, as a single-generation enterprise, didn't have the privilege in the initial days, and battled socio-economic forces of omnipresent recession to find its way out. Owing to its grit and determination, the TV Corporation today enjoys a global top-2 ranking. Even more revering is TCL's journey in India; within just a year, TCL has now emerged as one of India's top-5 TV companies. The 'Born a Legend' series will celebrate both of their journeys, resilience and the ability to transform the style to emerge as a genius in the field.

Eileen Sun, Chief Marketing Officer, Overseas Business Group of TCL Smart Device Group said, "With Born a Legend series, TCL aims to inspire the global community of sports enthusiasts, especially the younger generation. The video narratives will help our viewers understand everything that goes into the making of a legend. Our collaboration with ESPN is a creative endeavour that is going to celebrate powerful stories in the field of sports, while also inspiring more people to strive for excellence in their individual pursuits."

Commenting on the latest development, TCL India Country Manager Mr. Mike Chen, said, "We are glad to bring 'Born a Legend' series to India and celebrate the struggles and triumphs of one of India's favourite sports icon, Kuldeep Yadav. Coming from humble backgrounds and establishing oneself as a game-changer in the space, the brand TCL has a lot in common with Kuldeep Yadav. The video will encompass his humble beginnings and his metamorphosis into one of India's most celebrated sports icons today. At TCL, we are driven to utilise sports as a medium to inspire the younger generation to pursue their dreams. With India having a religious following of the sport, we are affirmative that the video will resonate with the enthusiastic cricket fans in India."

The video series also marks TCL's long-standing commitment to providing global consumers with products and services to help them live a smart and healthy life. The collaboration is a testament to TCL leveraging the medium of cricket, the most popular sport in India, to highlight its commitment to the Indian market. Previously during IPL, TCL had sponsored Delhi Capital to capture the heart of the nation and emerge as a game-changer with the city's rich cultural, social, economic, and political heritage. For the Indian markets, TCL also inaugurated a panel factory in Tirupati, marking company's first manufacturing unit outside of China. TCL further plans to come up with state-of-the-art products and promotional offers to help users upgrade their TV to best consume the spirited ICC World Cup series.

'Born a Legend' series will feature up to 4-minutes long inspirational and compelling narratives of global sports icons, going above and beyond the set parameters of gender or geography, featuring top athletes from six countries of the world- India, Indonesia, Germany, Russia, Japan, and Mexico. Together with ESPN, TCL has already released the first video under 'Born a Legend' category that features Indonesia's female taekwondo athlete, DefiaRosmaniar. Kuldeep Yadav's Born a Legend video will be available on the official website of TCL, along with web and app platform of ESPN.
