Hero MotoCorp to Launch AR Showroom for Elevating Buying Experience
Adloid has partnered with Hero MotoCorp for the launch of the first-of-its-kind immersive Augmented Reality showroom. Using its proprietary technology ADLOID has added enhanced features like hotspots, configurators, remote sales assistance, and more. This technology is revolutionizing digital buying experiences and was recently used by Tata Motors for the launch of their flagship products.

Vehicle Registrations witnessed Huge Downfall in April 2021: FADA
The Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) released Monthly Vehicle Registration Data for FY 20-21 as well as April’21.
Unlike other months, we can’t represent a YoY comparison since India was under complete lockdown in April 2020 and not a single vehicles could be sold. Hence, all comparisons for this month has been done on MoM basis.
Commenting on how April’21 performed, FADA President, Mr. Vinkesh Gulati said,“India is currently facing one of its toughest times with 2nd wave of covid creating a havoc in everyone’s life. This time, the spread is not only limited to urban markets but has also taken rural India in its grasp.
Auto Registrations for the month of April witnessed double digit fall to the tune of -28% MoM, as most of the Indian states started going under lockdown (partial as well as full) beginning April 5th onwards. The spread started with Maharashtra followed by Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Rajasthan and other Indian States following the suit. Not surprisingly, all categories hence closed the month in red with 2W down by -28%, 3W by -43%, PV by -25%, Tractors by -45% and CV by -24% respectively on a MoM basis.
Unlike last year, the lockdown this time around has been imposed by State Governments and not the Central. Due to this, there has been no relief announcements which has come out till now either by the Center or RBI and Auto OEMs.
FADA humbly requests Auto OEMs (our Principals) to handhold their dealers the way they did last year during the 1st phase of pandemic as situation is very grim in most of the states and Dealer Principals as well as their teams are fighting for their survival from Covid. FADA also requests OEMs to not burden dealers with high billings all the states where lockdown has been announced.
FADA also requests the Government to come out with financial package, the way they did last year. We also request RBI to come out with guidelines/notifications for relaxation of loan re-payment equivalent to the tune of number of days of lockdown each state has announced.”
Near Term Outlook
The 1st 9 days of May has seen extremely lean sales due to lockdown announced by majority of states. Lockdown also means dealership outlets to remain closed thus meaning zero sales. Considering the rising number of cases, one can expect the peak in terms of infections for India on a whole could be at least a fortnight away. Even where, Dealerships are open, the walk-ins have dropped to 30% and customers are delaying their purchase decision.
The just-concluded elections in states like West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Assam, movement of migrant workers back to states like Uttar Pradesh and Bihar can keep the curve rising. Overall, FADA hence maintains absolute sluggishness for the month of May as most of the states have announced extension of lockdown till the end of the month.
Long Term Outlook
The 2nd wave of covid has not only unsettled urban but also the rural markets this time around. Recovery hence looks to take a longer time when compared to recovery which came after 1st wave.
The only ray of hope lies on Monsoon’s on time arrival which is likely to enter India through the southern coast around June 1. The country’s weather office has also said that India is expected to get average monsoon rains this year, thus raising expectations of higher farm output, which is central to the country’s economy. This will also lead to rural markets recovering faster than urban. Also categories like Tractors and 2-Wheelers will have a rub off effect in terms of recovery.

Renault India Partners with CSC Grameen eStore to Improve Rural Outreach
In order to strengthen its rural presence and move closer to the customers in the remote areas, Renault India announced its partnership with CSC Grameen eStore, a subsidiary of CSC eGovernance Services India Limited (CSC-SPV). As a part of the partnership, Renault India’s leading product range will be listed on the CSC Grameen eStore and made available to the potential customers in hinterlands through aspirational Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs).
CSC Grameen eStore is an eCommerce initiative by CSC (under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology) to promote digital ordering and delivery in rural areas, making digital inclusion of rural India a reality. To facilitate smooth rural e-commerce, Renault will build a mechanism that would facilitate the supply of its products to Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs) who will help list the products on select CSC Grameen eStores. The VLEs will further promote, generate enquiries, and facilitate sale to end customers in rural areas through the support of respective Renault Authorised dealerships.
Venkatram Mamillapalle, Country CEO & Managing Director, Renault India Operations said, “We see tremendous potential in the rural markets, and are aggressively pursuing with an innovative and comprehensive strategy to amplify and grow our presence in Rural India. The digital transformation has brought about a revolutionary change in dissipating physical boundaries and hinderances, helping bring different rural and semi-urban markets onto a common platform. We curated ‘sons of the soil’ strategy, wherein we recruited 500 educated youngsters from rural and small towns, trained them and put them as rural sales engineers to market Renault cars. This is yet another initiative to enhance our reach within the country and create a strong network in the rural market.
“We are extremely confident that this partnership will pave the way for digital and economic empowerment and will further boost our efforts to deliver consumers’ favourite Renault car at their doorstep,” he added.
Dr. Dinesh Tyagi – CEO, CSC SPV said, “The idea for Grameen e-Store exemplifies Prime Minister’s call for Atmanirbhar Bharat by creating opportunities for rural youth and being vocal for local. Through this initiative, VLEs are playing a critical role in connecting producers and companies with the rural consumers right at their doorsteps. Partnering with Renault will allow the Grameen eStore to have first four wheeler brand, while providing customers in rural areas easy access to its great products and services.”
“The tie-up with Renault will certainly prove a milestone for CSC in facilitating world class product and services in the rural India. Our VLEs will avail themselves of this two-way opportunity first, in learning the basics of Renault cars and then in enhancing their means and resources,” he added.
As a part of its Rural Amplification Strategy, Renault initiated a special project last year – VISTAAR – to amplify and grow presence in rural India. In order to move closer to the customers in the remote areas and showcase its new compact sub four meter SUV KIGER, Renault India recently launched a new initiative ‘Rural Float’, a fully functional mobile showroom, that aims to provide complete Renault experience to the existing and potential customers in more than 360 towns across the country, especially in the rural markets across India.
