Since its inception in 2019, the OPPO Reno Series has emerged as a global success story, with over 130 million devices used worldwide. Conceived from a vision to democratise flagship-level photography, the Reno Series has consistently pushed the boundaries of mobile photography in India. With each generation, OPPO has introduced breakthrough camera technologies and proprietary innovations that have solidified the Reno lineup as a photography-first series, tailored to both creators and everyday users who demand excellence in imaging. Now, with the highly anticipated Reno14 Series on the horizon, OPPO is set to take AI-powered photography and premium design to even greater heights.

What sets Reno apart is its relentless focus on making a professional-grade photography experience accessible to everyone. It stands as an example of an innovation which is not just a smartphone; it is a creative assistant for today’s new-age users. Every day, more than two million portrait photos are captured with a Reno device, a testament to the trust and preference of users globally. With every new iteration, OPPO’s engineers refine hardware, software, and design to serve one clear purpose: to help users preserve the beauty of the present while empowering them to create the memories of tomorrow.

Reno Pioneering Innovation Through the Years

May 2019: The journey began with the original Reno, which stood out for its Pivot Rising Camera – a “shark-fin” style pop-up module that enabled a full-screen experience – and more importantly, for its 10x Hybrid Zoom, positioning the device as a pioneer in mobile zoom photography.

August 2019: The Reno2 doubled down on content creation. With Ultra Dark Mode and Ultra Steady Video, it empowered users to shoot high-quality images and videos under difficult lighting conditions, making it a practical tool for vloggers and casual cinematographers.

March 2020: The Reno3 Pro introduced the world’s first 44MP dual punch-hole selfie camera, along with Ultra Night Selfie Mode and Dual Lens Bokeh, tuned specifically for Indian skin tones – a clear example of OPPO’s market-specific software adaptation.

July 2020: The Reno4 Pro added creative portrait tools like AI Color Portrait and Night Flare Portrait, offering users stylistic options for night and low-light portraits – all within a lightweight and sleek form factor. AI Color Portrait could separate the main objects from the background when it came on their color. It was able to make the background black and white, creating a bold, high-contrast effect that fueled user creativity. Meanwhile, Night Flare Portrait, enhanced photos in low-light environments, adding depth with a neon effect.

January 2021: The Reno5 Series featured Dual-view Video, allowing users to shoot from both front and rear cameras at the same time. This was coupled with the Portrait Beautification Video feature, capable of identifying age, gender, and other details about the subject of the video. It was supported by Smart AI Recognition and introduced a beauty effect that, instead of being generic, was tailored to the face of the subject in the videos.

July 2021: The Reno6 Pro 5G introduced Bokeh Flare Portrait Video and updated AI Highlight Video 2.0, enabling users to capture professional-looking videos with real-time background blur – a first in its class and a key moment in Reno’s video-first positioning.

February 2022: The Reno7 Pro 5G took front camera performance up a notch with a co-developed Sony IMX709 sensor, delivering clearer, brighter selfies in various lighting conditions. Meanwhile, the Microlens camera introduced on the base model allowed users to explore macro and microscope-level shots, expanding the range of creative content.

July 2022: The Reno8 Pro 5G introduced OPPO’s proprietary MariSilicon X NPU, enabling 4K Ultra Night Video, real-time AI Noise Reduction, and superior HDR video capabilities – elevating Reno to flagship-grade imaging performance.

July 2023: With the Reno10 Pro+ 5G, OPPO brought its first 64MP Periscope Telephoto Camera with 3x Optical Zoom and Ultra-Clear Portrait capabilities. Paired with the Sony IMX890 main sensor, it allowed for dramatic compression and sharp, natural portraits – redefining the Reno Series as a genuine Portrait Powerhouse.

January 2024: This focus on portraiture continued with the Reno11 Pro 5G which featured the HyperTone Image Engine and Portrait Expert Engine. These engines offered improved tone separation, realistic Indian skin tones, and precise subject-background clarity, helping OPPO earn the now-familiar tag of “The Portrait Expert.”

July 2024: The Reno12 Pro pushed both AI and telephoto capabilities forward. It debuted the AI Photography Engine Gen 2 and Portrait Light Fusion, offering studio-like lighting and dynamic range even in unpredictable conditions, from neon-lit cityscapes to soft indoor scenes. Importantly, it reintroduced a Dedicated Telephoto Zoom Camera, carrying forward Reno10’s periscope legacy. With improved zoom algorithms, users could now capture distant subjects – such as temple domes, wildlife, or concert stages – without losing clarity or composition.

January 2025: OPPO took imaging further with the Reno13 Series, featuring AI Livephoto, AI Clarity, and underwater photography—enabled by IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings for water and dust resistance. It is equipped with a triple rear camera setup (50MP + 50MP + 8MP), including a 3.5x telephoto lens, a tri-microphone system, audio zoom, and dual 4K video support. The Reno13 Series was also the first to introduce the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 SoC and 80W SUPERVOOCTM fast charging for all-around performance.

The soon-to-be-launched OPPO Reno14 Series blends fashion-first aesthetics with rugged durability. With its aerospace-grade aluminium frame, one-piece sculpted glass back enhanced with OPPO Velvet Glass, ultra-thin screen bezels, and exceptional durability, the Reno14 Series is defining a new standard for premium smartphone design — where sleek aesthetics meet structural integrity.

The devices introduce industry-first finishes like an iridescent glow and luminous loop deco, crafted through advanced multi-layer coating processes. Inspired by nature, the Reno14’s Sponge Armor Body mimics sea sponges to absorb shocks from drops, while the slim design (as thin as 7.42mm) maintains structural integrity and cool temperatures under load. With IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings, a corrosion-resistant USB port, and underwater 4K video support, the Reno14 Series is built to perform in every environment.

The Reno14 Pro also sets a new performance benchmark as India’s first smartphone powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8450 chipset, offering exceptional efficiency and flagship-level speed. The chip features the world’s first 4nm Cortex-A725 All Big Core architecture, equipped with eight high-performance cores clocked up to 3.25GHz. This results in a 41% improvement in multi-core performance and a 44% reduction in power consumption, making it ideal for intensive tasks such as 4K video editing, real-time AI processing, and mobile gaming.

The Reno14 Series continues OPPO’s legacy of empowering every user to become a storyteller – turning everyday moments into timeless masterpieces.
