“We Are Very Excited About Where AMD Is Today”

AMD has been continuously bringing innovations in their product and solutions for Indian market. AMD celebrates its 50 years of industry leadership in 2019 and they ensure to continue to build on this momentum by delivering leading edge products across all verticals. Vinay Sinha, Senior Director, APJ Consumer & Commercial Business Management, AMD shares his insight about company's growth plan with DT.

DT: How has been the year 2018 so far for you?

Mr. Vinay: We are very excited about where AMD is today. We have been growing consistently and have gained market share in the PC segment, strong re-entry to the data center and sustenance in graphics. In 2018, we have launched several flagship products which will form the base for AMD's global product strategy for growth.  Another major milestone is our partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) that supports the value proposition of AMD's data center EPYC. Being a high-performance computing company, we are at the beginning of a multi-year product cycle and AMD has made significant progress across the product line.

DT: How are you currently working with your partners to strengthen your market position?

Mr. Vinay: We have an assigned channel team in India that focuses on taking our product messaging and programs to the channel partners across the country. AMD's channel partners are broadly classified by the line of business they address, such as component (DIY), consumer and commercial verticals and we have different programs that address their needs based on the segment they address. We invest heavily in partner education and host seminars, trainings and webinars frequently to help them refresh their AMD product knowledge from.

We will continue developing our partner base in India by adding discerning, experienced and effective channel partners and bringing unique channel enablement programs. We will also continue supporting our channel partners' market specific initiatives and ensure enough market exposure is in place to encourage users who have never used AMD products before to understand and realize the value and benefits that AMD has to offer.

DT: What is your overall roadmap to escalate your growth further in CY 2019?

Mr. Vinay: AMD's growth strategy is based on being consistent and pro-active. An array of products across market segments has resulted in a strong and exciting year for us. As AMD celebrates its 50 years of industry leadership in 2019, we will continue to build on this momentum, by delivering leading edge products in compute, graphics and datacenter that are better than ever for moving into the future. Our focus lies on reinforcing AMD's position as the driving force of innovation in high performance computing.

As AR/VR, Artificial Intelligence and Visual Computing become reality, we also see immersive computing experiences become mainstream. The seamless blending of the real and virtual worlds is fundamentally changing the way we use technology. To take full advantage of these opportunities, we have developed strong, multi-generational roadmaps to deliver products that bring these experiences to the user.

DT: What are your suggestions to policymakers to counter any existing business challenges in ICT market?

Mr. Vinay: India is amidst its digital transformation journey where large and small enterprises, government, and consumers at large are leveraging emerging technologies such as data science, machine learning, AI and cloud computing among others. The role of high performance computing stands crucial as it can empower these technologies and their capabilities across fields from healthcare and manufacturing to building smart cities. Riding on the Digital India mission, it's important for the private sector to build strategic alliances with the government and academic institutions to foster innovation and make significant scientific and technological advancements.
